Hand Rejuvenation

Hand Rejuvenation services offered in Hamilton Square, Trenton, and Mercer County area, New Jersey

The hands are a body part that gets little attention in many people’s skin care or rejuvenation regimen but can be the one place that really reveals your age. Sun damage resulting in surface freckles can be a tell tale sign of aging but even worse than that is volume loss. At Kessel Dermatology, servicing the Hamilton Square, Trenton, and Mercer County areas in New Jersey, we offer a number of dermal filler options to improve the look of your hands.

Hand Rejuvenation

Restore Volume and Improve the Appearance of Aging Hands

The hands are often overlooked in a skincare or rejuvenation routine, yet they can be one of the first areas to reveal signs of aging.

Over time, the hands can develop two distinct types of age-related changes: volume loss beneath the skin and sun damage on the skin's surface. Together, these changes can make the hands appear older even when significant attention has been given to rejuvenating the face.

Why Do Hands Look Older With Age?

Just as we lose volume in the face as we age, we also lose volume in the hands.

As the tissue beneath the skin becomes thinner, tendons, bones, and veins can become increasingly prominent, creating a more skeletal or bony appearance.

At the same time, years of cumulative sun exposure can cause brown spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation, and changes in skin texture.

Treating aging hands therefore begins with identifying whether the primary concern is volume loss, sun damage, or both.

How Can Dermal Fillers Rejuvenate the Hands?

Dermal fillers can be injected beneath the skin to replace some of the volume that has been lost with age.

Restoring volume helps soften the appearance of prominent veins, tendons, and bones and creates a smoother, more youthful contour to the back of the hands.

At Kessel Dermatology, we use Juvéderm® Voluma XC and Radiesse® for hand rejuvenation.

The product selected depends on your anatomy, degree of volume loss, and individual treatment goals.

How Much Filler Is Needed?

The amount of filler needed varies depending on the degree of volume loss and the desired correction.

Typically, approximately two to three syringes may be used to treat both hands, although your individual treatment plan will be determined after evaluating your hands.

How Long Do Results Last?

Results from hand rejuvenation with dermal filler are visible immediately, although temporary swelling may initially affect the appearance of the treated area.

Duration varies depending on the product used and the individual patient. Some fillers used for hand rejuvenation can provide improvement lasting a year or longer.

What About Brown Spots and Sun Damage?

Dermal fillers address volume loss, but they do not remove the pigmentation and surface changes caused by years of sun exposure.

Brown spots, freckles, and uneven pigmentation may be treated separately with appropriate skin or laser treatments.

For patients with both volume loss and sun damage, combining treatments can provide more comprehensive rejuvenation of the hands.

Why Does Injector Experience Matter?

The anatomy of the hands is different from the face, and filler placement requires an understanding of the veins, tendons, and other structures beneath the skin.

Our aesthetic medicine expert, Savy Guthrie, MPAS, PA-C, has over 20 years of dermatology experience and extensive experience performing cosmetic injectable treatments.

Treatment is customized according to the anatomy of your hands and the degree of volume loss rather than using a predetermined amount of filler for every patient.

Is Hand Rejuvenation Right for You?

If prominent veins, tendons, volume loss, or sun damage are making your hands look older than you would like, treatment can be customized according to the changes affecting your hands.

Schedule an aesthetic consultation at Kessel Dermatology to determine which hand rejuvenation treatments are appropriate for you.
