Biostimulation for Firmer, Smoother Skin

Radiesse® is an injectable treatment made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that are commonly used primarily to replace or add volume, Radiesse can also be used as a biostimulatory treatment to encourage your skin to produce more of its own collagen and elastin.

At Kessel Dermatology, Radiesse can be used to improve skin quality, firmness, and the appearance of crepey or lax skin on the face and body.

How Does Radiesse Work?

Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier.

When injected, the product provides an initial effect within the tissue while the CaHA microspheres act as a scaffold that stimulates the body's production of collagen and elastin.

Over time, the Radiesse components are gradually metabolized by the body while the newly produced collagen and elastin help improve the structure and quality of the skin.

Because collagen production takes time, results continue to develop gradually after treatment.

What Is Diluted or Hyperdiluted Radiesse?

When the goal is improving skin quality rather than adding facial volume, Radiesse can be diluted with saline and lidocaine and distributed more broadly beneath the skin.

This technique allows the biostimulatory properties of Radiesse to be used across larger areas to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Rather than creating fullness, the goal is gradual improvement in skin firmness, thickness, texture, and crepiness.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Radiesse?

Radiesse can help improve the appearance of crepey or lax skin in areas including:

When Will I See Results?

Some patients notice changes relatively early, but collagen remodeling continues over the weeks and months following treatment.

This is different from treatments performed primarily to add volume, where much of the visible correction is immediate.

How Many Radiesse Treatments Will I Need?

When Radiesse is used for biostimulation and skin improvement, we may recommend a series of treatments rather than a single session.

Treatments are typically spaced approximately six weeks apart, allowing time for collagen and elastin production between sessions.

The number of treatments needed depends on the treatment area, degree of skin laxity or crepiness, and your individual goals.

Can Radiesse Be Combined With Morpheus8 or Evolve-X?

Yes. Radiesse can be used in combination with treatments that use radiofrequency energy, including Morpheus8 and Evolve-X.

These treatments work through different mechanisms. Radiofrequency treatments stimulate tissue remodeling through controlled energy delivery, while Radiesse provides an injectable biostimulatory signal for collagen and elastin production.

What Should I Expect After Treatment?

Most patients can resume normal daily activities following treatment.

Temporary effects may include:

• Swelling
• Redness
• Tenderness
• Firmness in the treated area

These effects generally improve over the days following treatment.

You may be advised to avoid alcohol, strenuous activity, excessive sun exposure, and heat immediately following your procedure.

Specific aftercare instructions will be provided based on the area and type of treatment performed.

How Long Do Radiesse Results Last?

Radiesse is not permanent.

When used as a biostimulatory treatment, the goal is to stimulate changes within your own skin rather than simply leave injectable product in place.

The longevity of improvement varies according to the treatment area, amount used, treatment technique, age, skin quality, and individual response.
