Doing anything for the first time can be a bit nerve-wracking — especially when that new thing involves needles going into your face. But if you prepare yourself, all that fear goes away because you know what to expect!

If it’s your first time getting facial injections, here are a few tips to help you calm your nerves:

Tips for Your First Time Getting Facial Injections

Do your research on your provider.

Make sure the office you’re getting your injections at has a good reputation and that the medical practitioner administering your treatment has a thorough knowledge of facial anatomy and a good amount of experience performing facial injection treatments.

Ask as many questions as you want.

There is no such thing as a dumb question, especially when it comes to medical procedures. These are your injection treatments, so ask your medical practitioner anything and everything you’re curious about. Knowledge is power — the power to conquer your nervousness.

Don’t exercise the day of your treatment.

While this doesn’t affect how well the injections will work, it may cause you to experience more bruising than you might without exercising.

Don’t take blood thinners.

Unless you absolutely need to take them, avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen, fish oils supplements, and Omega 3’s for at least a week before getting your injections. Thinner blood can lead to more bruising.
