JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC by Allergan Aesthetics is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler specifically designed to provide structure and definition to the jawline.

VOLUX XC is FDA approved for improvement of jawline definition in adults over the age of 21 with moderate to severe loss of jawline definition.

What Is JUVÉDERM VOLUX XC?

VOLUX XC is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel designed to provide structural support in the lower face.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found within the skin that attracts and retains moisture. The characteristics of VOLUX make it particularly suited to areas where firmness, structure, and contour are desired.

VOLUX XC also contains lidocaine to help improve comfort during treatment.

What Can VOLUX Do for the Jawline?

VOLUX can be used to:

• Improve jawline definition
• Enhance the angle of the jaw
• Create greater structure in the lower face
• Improve the transition between the face and neck
• Enhance overall facial proportions
• Camouflage the appearance of certain types of jowling

Treatment can be performed in both men and women, with placement customized according to the patient's anatomy and desired result.

Can VOLUX Improve Jowls?

In some patients, yes—but it is important to understand why the jowls are present.

Strategically adding structure along the jawline can sometimes camouflage mild jowling and create a smoother, more defined contour.

However, filler does not remove or tighten loose skin. If significant skin laxity is responsible for the appearance of the jowls, adding filler may not be the best treatment.

An evaluation of the entire lower face helps determine whether filler, skin tightening, or another approach is more appropriate.

Why Is Chin Projection Important When Treating the Jawline?

The chin and jawline work together to create the proportions of the lower face.

A recessed or under-projected chin can make the jawline appear less defined, while appropriate chin projection can improve the transition from the chin into the jaw.

For this reason, we evaluate the entire lower face rather than treating the jawline in isolation.

Some patients may benefit from treatment of the chin, jawline, or a combination of both to create balanced facial proportions.

When Will I See Results?

Results from VOLUX are visible immediately after injection.

However, swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising can temporarily affect the appearance of the treatment area.

Your final result should be evaluated after the initial swelling has resolved and the filler has settled.

How Long Does JUVÉDERM VOLUX XC Last?

VOLUX is designed to provide long-lasting structural correction.

Results can last up to one year, although individual duration varies depending on the amount of product used, treatment area, metabolism, and other factors.

The filler gradually breaks down over time rather than disappearing suddenly.

What Should I Expect After Treatment?

Temporary effects may include:

• Swelling
• Bruising
• Redness
• Tenderness
• Firmness
• Temporary asymmetry related to swelling

Avoid unnecessary touching or pressure on the treated area immediately after treatment, including prolonged pressure from your phone.

For the first 24 hours, you may also be advised to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat or sun exposure.

You will receive specific post-treatment instructions following your procedure.
